New Businesses - New Opportunities

Companies House has just announced an increase in new business formation this year. Hopefully this is  good news, showing  that there is a growing confidence that the economy is starting to improve.

If the stats are correct then there is a great opportunity for many of us to offer our services and experiences to a wider audience.

I guess that these new businesses will be seeking oout ways to ensure their business survives the coming months as the economy gets back on its feet again.

This is where great networking and peer support works well.

But I really do think that now is the time tfor the Business Development Agencies to take stock of their Skills and the advice and support they dish out to these new businesses.

They need to take a fresh look at what's needed and really offer some innovative and highly effective help.

Businesses will always look for information about the fundamentals of running a business but they now also need to understand other new opportunities that supports the changing ways of our society, such as increased online buying, the hunger for new technologies etc.

Bringing in New Blood will ensure these new businesses get guidance on what’s current and needed not just the ‘same old’!

I know there are some great business advisors out there but there are also many, many advisors that are not really in touch with business needs. Especially those who’ve never owned a business and can’t empathise with the demands a start up business.

Coming out of this recession we most likely will see that as the larger businesses reduce their costs, there will be opportunities for the small businesses to grow. If  small business owners understand these new opportunities and seek them out, they will almost certainly be able to grow their business quicker.  Again this is where good mentoring/experience is invaluable to these new businesses.

Thienews about increases in new businesses came as a pleasant surprise to me as I am just about to launch a training package for small businesses and one man bands, to guide them through the practicalities of having a Current and Effective Online Presence.

It covers new practices and methods, what to do and how to do it - with step by step instructions of each process. The course material are  simple and easy to use flowcharts so they will be a great reference tool. The flowcharts are Ideal for the total internet novice, for when new staff come into the business or for easy prompts after a busy day.

We live in an ever changing world, so to support these changes we need to utilise the skills of forward thinkers to make things happen. It would be great to see us come out of this current recession stronger and wiser - but I guess only time will tell!
